Sparrow came to the Kempsey RSPCA in April 2005 at only 4 weeks old after being removed from his previous owner due to neglect. He was a tiny (hence his name), life-less little creature ... malnourished, flea ridden and worm infested. But what a beautiful boy he is now!

Basically a sook! He is a gentle soul, with a BIG heart and a very affectionate loving nature. However, whilst he is comfortable and confident (hence the cheeky grin) with those he knows and loves, Sparrow is very shy with strangers initially. He is also still very much a puppy .. and as such, Sparrow loves to run and play and 'wrestle'.

Accordingly, he has excellent social skills with other canines and would be a wonderful companion to another playful puppy/pooch. Having had house-status since coming into care, Sparrow is house-trained and is very well-mannered when indoors.

Baby Bear came to the Kempsey RSPCA in July 2005 after being removed from his previous owner due to neglect. Whilst technically 6 weeks old at that time, he was the size of a rat due to malnurishment and neglect. But whilst the bad start initially left him small in stature ... time, tucker and TLC has seen Baby Bear develop into a big, beautiful boy.

Baby Bear can be summed up in one word ... adorable! He has an incredibly affectionate nature and a pure joy for life ... he basically loves everyone and everything. Aside from playing (ie. being patted, cuddled and generally fussed over) by people, Baby Bear ADORES the company of other pups/pooches and playing with them is undoubtedly, one of his greatest pleasures in life. As such, he is most suited to a home where he will not only receive oodles of love and attention, but one where he will have the enjoyment and companionship of a 4 legged friend.

Baby Bear has commenced his house and basic obedience training however will require an outgoing commitment from a potential new owner in these areas.

Midnight came to the Kempsey RSPCA as a 'pound puss' in October 2005. His background was unknown and he was very scared and timid upon arrival. But now .. he is full of love and confidence.

Midnight is a very sociable boy and at the present time shares his affection with a female feline friend (Gypsy). Midnight is the perfect gentleman and allows her to eat first.

A handsome boy with his shiny black coat, anyone would be proud to adopt him. He not only mixes well with other cats, he's also dog friendly!

Midnight would like a home where he has house-cat status and no outdoor access at night.

Zen came to the Kempsey RSPCA in January 2006 at only 7 days old, after her mother was abandoned without food or water to care for herself and her babies.

In short, Zen is an absolute sweet-heart. She is an extremely gentle soul, with an incredibly affectionate (sooky) nature, and whilst she can be quite shy and 'coy' with strangers, Zen considers herself a 'lap-dog' (literally) so enjoys nothing more than being snuggled and cuddled by those she knows and loves. Whilst a real 'home-body', she does enjoy playing with other puppies/pooches and as such has excellent social skills with other animals.

She is house-trained, obedient and generally well-mannered... however she is still a puppy and does have mischieveous moments. Zen would be the perfect pooch for any kind, caring person looking for a darling dog to be their companion.

NOTE: Zen has had a canine cutaneous histiocytoma (a benign neoplasm) removed from the right latheral canthus of the eye. She also has a slightly over-shot bottom jaw.

Kali came to the Kempsey RSPCA in January 2006 after being abandoned by her previous owners without food or water, to not only care for herself, but for her litter of newborn puppies. Why anyone would leave a dog in this situation is hard to imagine, particularly a sweet soul like Kali.

And that's just what Kali is ... an absolute sweetheart. Loyal, loving and devoted, Kali is a gentle girl, with an enormous heart (and belly) and extremely affectionate nature, who adores giving... but better still ... getting kisses and cuddles.

Whilst she enjoys interacting and has good social skills with other canines, Kali is typical of her breed, in that she has 2 passions in life ... people and food!

Kali is well-mannered, obedient and craves someone to love, who will love her in return. Kali would be suitable within any kind, caring, loving home however is particularly suited to an older single person or couple looking for a constant companion.

Tikana is an adorable, happy girl. She needs a stable loving environment with owner committed to ongoing obedience training. She is very responsive to people & food orientated which is an advantage for training.

She needs more encouragement to learn to be calm & to focus so as to learn sit. She is interested in all going on around her (easily distracted) and is playful with other dogs - a robust, playful dog would be a perfect friend for her!!

Tikana needs a fit active owner as she is very strong & erratic on a lead and a home with no cats/pocket pets as she will chase them.

She would benefit from treat balls to keep her amused if left alone for any period.

What a handsome & loving boy Rinny is! Intelligent, obedient, affectionate, sits on command, allows to be handled all the time - this dog is a dream come true! He is very responsive & trainable, active, playful.

He will require an active and fit owner who will provide him with plenty of exercise each day.

To keep him busy during the day he would be best with lots of toys to play with and a large yard to run around in!! Rinny needs to find a home without cats and other small pets.

Samson has been here since October last year!! That is a long time for such a lovely dog to be waiting for a home!

He is an affectionate dog who is social with people and other dogs.

Samson does not like being left alone, so he needs an owner who is home a lot and can spend lots of time with him as well as perhaps another dog for a companion.

He is a very vocal dog and would prefer an owner who has experience with his breed. He also needs a home with no kids under 6 yrs.

Scalli came to the Kempsey RSPCA in May 2006 at only 1 day old after her Mother died in labour.

Formally referred to as Scalli-wags because of her cheeky little personality ... and the fact that her tail never stops wagging ... Scalli is a BIG, beautiful, goofy girl. Whilst at heart a very gentle soul, Scalli has a friendly, outgoing (ie. mischievous) personality and due to her affectionate nature loves to be cuddled.

She is very people focused, so wherever you are, is where she is .. or wants to be. Being a growing girl, food is also a focus area. As is play and accordingly, she also has excellent social skills and enjoys the company of other pups/pooches.

Scalli would be equally suited as a companion to another dog or within a sole animal household provided she was treated as part of the family. Scalli has begun her house-training and basic obedience and is a gold-star girl by puppy standards, however will require an ongoing commitment from a potential owner in these areas.

Polly came to the Kempsey RSPCA in November 2006 after being removed, with her puppies, from her previous owner due to neglect.

Whilst Polly had put every bit of goodness her body could produce into sustaining her puppies... she was extremely malnurished and also had the added burden of a flea and worm infestation.

Polly is now looking for a home that will treat her with the love and kindness she deserves. This gorgeous girl has an incredibly affectionate nature and having obviously received little/no affectionate in her life, quickly attaches herself to the bearer of any kindness, shadowing them with devotation.

She is obedient, well mannered and has excellent social skills with dogs of all shapes and sizes.

Loyal, loving and devoted, Polly would be perfect for either a single person or couple looking for a constant companion.

Kimba is a social and affectionate dog. She is good with other animals and playful with dogs. She has had some basic training and is gentle for her size.

Although Kimba would be suited to a household with any age children, keep in mind her large size may accidentally knock over small children.

She will require a medium to large secure yard and an active owner who is interested in taking her out for long walks. Kimba will benefit from further training and socialisation. Premises Inspection required.

Tibby was abandoned by her previous owners and brought to the shelter by one of our Inspectors. She has been at the shelter since November and is now looking for a permanent home. She is a lovely cat with a sweet face. Tibby has a pink nose so will be suited to live indoors and wear sunscreen. She has a nice short coat which will only require a regular brush. She is still young and playful without having the naughty kitten behaviour. Tibby likes the company of other cats and would make a lovely companion.

Becky is a lovely dark tortoiseshell cat with a stunning face. She has a sweet nature and is good with other cats. Little Becky has been at the shelter since November after her previous owners could not be found. She would love to go to a forever home where she could sleep in a sunny window and watch the world go by. Becky’s short coat is easily maintained by regular brushing. She still likes to play with toys but would like to curl up on your couch at night and watch the telly.

Larna is a friendly dog who is very responsive to people. She can sit and play fetch.

Larna can be timid with some handling so is best suited to a home with children over 6yrs and with no pocket pets (ie. rabbits) as she will chase them.

Little Miss came into the shelter when her previous owners moved out and left her behind.

Poor Little Miss was very heavily pregnant and in December she gave birth to 4 kittens. Her kittens are currently being fostered until they are big enough to be put up for adoption, but now Little Miss would like to find a home.

She is really lovely and very friendly and didn’t even mind her foster carer’s dog, well not too much anyway! Little Miss likes to bury her food sometimes. She is a real character and such a sweetie.

Pumpkin is a sweet girl who has had a hard start to life. She came to the RSPCA as a cruelty case after being neglected.

Despite this she loves to spend time with people, being patted and scratched. She does become anxious with loud or active environments and any rough handling even if only in play. Due to this she is best suited to a calm home with no children under 12 yrs.
