Adoption Information
What you Need to Adopt
Thank
you for considering adopting a companion animal
from us! Please
read our Adoption Information
page to help you make the best decision
possible.
If
you see an animal on our website that you are
interested in, you can phone RSPCA NSW Dubbo
on (02)
6882
1934.
Please
bring the following to facilitate the adoption
process:
- Two
forms of identification, at least one of which
shows your current address. A telephone
or electricity bill can serve as one.
A driver's license, passport, student ID as
a second piece of ID are also acceptable.
- Any
questions or concerns about adopting.
- If
you have an existing dog and would like to
adopt another, bring your existing dog along
also. Adopting a dog is a huge commitment
and is a family decision, including the four-legged
kind.
- Check
with your landlord or strata group to make
sure that you are allowed to have a pet.

Premises Inspection
Some
animals may require a premises inspection -
in this instance you may pay an inspection fee
and the animal will be held for you at the Shelter
until the premises inspection has been completed.
Please note: The fee is part of the adoption
price and is not refunded if the premises were
found not to comply with the requirements set
out on the Application Form and as signed by
the prospective purchaser.
To
pass premises inspection you must have:
 |
A fully fenced yard with the fences (including
gates) at least 1.5 metres in height. If
you have a pool, this will also require
fencing. |
 |
A
yard of adequate size for the dog you wish
to adopt. |
 |
Proper
shelter. A shelter must provide protection
from the elements and be large enough for
the dog to stand up or lie down in. It must
also be enclosed on three sides and have
a floor and roof that is impervious to rain
and provides shade. |
